It´s time to learn...

The Discipleship Training School has already started at YWAM El Salvador!

This is a new exciting challenge for me because I will be interpreting most of the classes and activities for Simo-Ott – our student from Estonia. This means that I will use English vocabulary from Europe and not from the United States as I am used to. For instance, I will say "mobile" instead of "cell phone." There will also be concepts to explain to him because of this “new Salvadorian culture” he is living in.

Regarding the Bible lessons, it feels like I will have Aaron’s position and responsibility to convey God’s message through a Moses (a teacher). On Exodus 4:15 and 16, God tells Moses, “You shall speak to him (Aaron) and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people (Simo-Ott) for you, and it will be as if he (Aaron) were your mouth and as if you (Moses) were God to him.”

We will be teaching/learning one-week lessons on topics such as "How to Hear God´s Voice", "Quiet Time", "Intercession", "Fasting", "Biblical Worldview", "Evangelism", and "Missions."
There will be a total of 12 weeks of lecture and then the students will go on outreach for 8 weeks to share what they have learned in their training. That is why our motto is "To know God to make Him Known!"

Prayer requests

1. That I may be a cultural interpreter between Simo and Salvadorians.
2. That I will be able to convey God’s message with accuracy to Simo.
3. The planning and resources for a 4-month trip to the United States.
4. My family
5. Elections for President in El Salvador in March.

Blessings,

November, 2008

November 29th, 2008.

Dear Friends,

This month has been the highlight of the year. The first weekend I went to a Women’s Retreat and I had a great time of fellowship with the ladies from my Church.

Then, I spent 7 days interpreting for 4 missionaries from Missouri . They taught the local Church a new way to bless the community. We went into businesses in the neighborhood and we just asked the employees and/or owners if we could pray for them. Then, the local Pastor invited them to come to the Church services. The missionaries also got to share their testimonies with cell groups in different homes. At the end of the week, the local Church organized a soccer tournament for the youth where the missionaries also shared with the players about God’s love. I really enjoyed the variety of activities!

On November 16th, I flew to Costa Rica to be part of the Youth with a Mission DNA Conference. There were around 300 YWAMers representing 24 countries. We worshiped God and heard lots of uplifting stories (testimonies) from the Co-founder of the organization. I was really challenged to make an effort to provide for others The Book that transforms hearts! I had a great time visiting with YWAM friends who I have met throughout the years who work in other Central American Bases. I also started new friendships from other parts of the world! I loved it!

Now, the last and BEST event of the month was the visit of my host mom and 10-year old host brother from Arkansas , U.S. It was a dream come true to have them down here in El Salvador for a few days. My heart rejoiced and greatly thanked God for the privilege of having them to spend times of joy with me. I will always thank God for the blessing of being part of their family which is my greatest wealth.

May God bless you all,

Susy
